New Market  and Eureka Townships!

  •  I passed into law as chief author a bill which provides funding for equine Mental Health Therapy for FIRST RESPONDERS.  Here is a short video link about it.

  • I coauthored and supported commonsense solutions to help our environment. Our "Keep It Clean" program prevents water pollution due to garbage and waste left on the ice during winter use activities like ice fishing.

  • I proudly advocated for grants to support domestic abuse victims! My bill provides funding to the Southern Valley Alliance so that they can further their mission of providing services and resources to victims, usually women.

  • I will continue working on long term improvements for County Road 2 in Elko New Market, as well as other district projects like Interstate 35 and Cty 50.

  • The I-35/Kenwood Trail (County 50) Interchange has been a top priority to renovate this busy exit and underpass to handle the increased amount of traffic more safely.

  • Metro Mobility Service to the district for our seniors and others unable to drive themselves.  Lakeville has been paying into the taxing district and now finally has this service option.

Covid-19 Screening

ADDRESSING COVID & HELPING SMALL BUSINESSES

To address the health concerns caused by COVID,  Jon helped fund testing centers and lead the fight to get schools, businesses and churches open. Jon’s efforts also included acquiring $4 million for Lakeville and $52 Million for Dakota County to assist in the needs and help our small business community with losses caused by imposed shutdowns. He is a co author of a number of bills to end similar "emergency" orders used in 2020, and the "Never Again Bill".

In response to COVID orders closing restaurants and limiting dining
room capacity,
Jon authored and brought together a bipartisan
coalition to permit our restaurants make additional revenue by selling
wine and beer to-go.

Jon was also the chief author to provide ground breaking Equine Mental Health therapy for Police and Fire first responders.  This program at Canterbury Park utilizes retired race horses in a clinically approved methods that has served a unfortunate demand in the face of the sad Burnsville tragedy and some horrific Lakeville incidents. The program has proven to literally save lives in metro area departments.

He has worked to protect nursing homes from harmful cuts, voted to reduce the tax on social security benefits and was responsible for getting Metro Mobility service to Lakeville for disabled seniors and seniors who aren’t able to drive.

Jon authored the bill that finally delivered service to Lakeville and saved the Met Council an estimated $8 million a year to pay for the Lakeville service.

taxes for working families.
